Waiwera South School (WSS) hosted 13 schools from across South Otago at its 38th annual quadrathlon last month. ‘‘Covid cut it to a private event last year but we’re back with amazing support from community volunteers and plenty of energetic kids ready to give their best,’’ principal Kaz Bissett said. Children from all years competed in teams and as individuals through a 100m swim, 2.4km cycle race and 2.7km combined cross country and road run in hot, still conditions, with Finn Leeds and Freya Whiteside winning their respective boys’ and girls’ individual year 8 events.
