Sharing their sporting skills

At the school holiday one-day touch rugby programme last week are organisers (from left) Kairus Booth, Sydney Marshall and Harlin Puna (all 15). The three instructors are on their way to Christchurch in February to compete in the Touch Nationals competition and are using their sporting skills to fundraise for their time away. The one-day programme on October 12 was targeted at year 5 and 8 pupils from South Otago primary schools. Learning different skills on the field, handling the ball and having fun were the main lessons as the three leaders taught during the warm day. The trio have been playing touch rugby since they were 8 years old. Otago Touch operations manager Jarrod Powell came down for the day to help out and provide his expertise to up-and-coming touch rugby stars in Balclutha.
