Fifty-two teams competed at Balclutha’s Cross Recreation Centre annual primary school netball tournament last Wednesday.

‘‘It’s the first time playing netball in a tournament for a lot of the kids,’’ Sport Clutha co-organiser Craig Gordon said.

‘‘It’s an excellent sport for fundamental movement and you can see everyone having fun in healthy competition.’’

Nick Brook captured some of the action.

Goalsetting . . . Clinton Primary School’s deep defence couldn’t stop Blue Mountain College’s Amy Young (12) scoring.
Looking sharp . . . Carlee Hamilton moves in for a pass from Jamie Kenealy, both 12 from Kaitangata School, with (from left) Rylie Smith, 11, Kat Cameron, 12, and Milly Lietze, 12, of The Catlins Area School looking to intercept.
