On the run

Balclutha parkrun organiser and volunteer Rod Deverson ‘‘knights’’ Dunedin park runner Tania Hollis for her 250th park run on the group’s celebration day. The weekly running, walking and social Saturday group recently celebrated its fifth birthday and used the coronation of King Charles to dress up for a themed birthday celebration as it was also celebrating its 230th park run on the same day. Mr Deverson said over its five years, the Balclutha parkrun had hosted more than 1000 runners and walkers and more than 100 people had volunteered with organising it. The group celebrated with cake and coffee at a local cafe and all participants and volunteers enjoyed the celebrations, he said. During winter, the Saturday morning event changed from 8am to 9am. All were welcome to tag along and enjoy a run or walk to start their Saturdays, he said.
