Otaki racer Tim Fellows (left) races Man’s Ruin during the Lake Waihola Boat Marathon last Saturday. The sun was out for the boat races organised by the Milton Boat Club as racers from as far as Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland travelled to Lake Waihola to get their points up to be involved in the South Island Powerboat Marathon finals at Lake Tekapo. Organising member Ian Spencer said racers were becoming very competitive as the season approached finals. The ‘‘Nominated Speed’’ race saw Martin Heanue with boat Hard Target score first place with an error of 14.90, and the ‘‘All Out Speed’’ event saw multiple categories and placings including Billy McEwan driving Outlaw getting first place with a time of 118.27 in Class AT. Mr Spencer said at the end of the season drivers’ overall points were added to tally placings by the most points.
