Organisers Judy and Alf Nicol assembled 10 men’s and eight mixed teams, one travelling from Gore, to go head to head in a football tournament, finalising its five-a-side competition for the summer season. First place in the mixed competition went to the Shark Attack team and the winner of the men’s competition was the Hakosia team. Trophies were won for each division and a barbecue was put on after the games. Nicol said the club was seeking members for women’s teams and a coach for the men’s grade in the future and encouraged any potential players to join the club.
