Clutha Health First (CHF) chief executive Sharon Mason (right) gets her annual flu vaccination by CHF practice nurse Kylie Pow last week. CHF has started rolling out its 2023 influenza immunisation programme. The programme runs until December 31 this year and eligible people can come along to the two upcoming walk-in clinics for flu vaccinations. The dates are this Sunday between 9am and 4pm and April 28 between 8am and 7pm at the Balclutha Cross Recreation Centre. No appointment is needed and there are no wait times for vaccinations.
Mrs Mason said there was a ‘‘high chance’’ the winter would be a difficult one so it was important to make sure people were up to date with their vaccinations.
There are new eligibility criteria for funded influenza vaccinations. They apply to pregnant women, people 65 or older, Maori and Pacific people aged 55 to 64, children aged 6 months to 12 years, people aged under 65 with eligible medical conditions and people aged under 65 with serious mental health and addiction conditions.
