New Zealand’s Child Cancer Foundation (CCF) recognised Tapanui’s formidable fundraising record at a friendly award ceremony last Wednesday.
Blue Mountain College teacher Sarah Davies (far right) explained how CCF provided support to children with cancer and their families, including for her son, Jock, who fought off leukaemia between 2013 and 2021.
‘‘The foundation becomes part of your lives when that happens,’’ she said.
The Davies family, the college and the community became passionate about fuelling CCF’s kindness and raised donations with events such as Wig Wednesday
CCF Pukerau board member Karen Heslip (fourth from left) said CCF held national awards to recognise contributors, and presented 14 framed certificates to local businesses, clubs, schools and organisations who had raised almost $90,000 in recent years.
