Social dog-agility group set up

Allen Booth, with the help of DC, is about to start a social dog-agility group in Balclutha.

‘‘Dogs just want to interact with their owners, but they’re all individuals just like us so it’s helpful for an owner to have a repertoire of activities to find out which best connects them to their dog,’’ the former Oamaru kennel owner with about 30 years’ experience in dog agility training said.

A keen supporter is Michelle Powell, known for her puppy classes with basic dog-and-owner training.

‘‘I’ve wanted to include something like this for a long time.

‘‘So it’s great to be able to encourage dogs and people to come together regularly with some experienced enthusiasts.’’

Mr Booth, his wife Kathy and Mrs Powell expect to be at the Centennial Park training ground behind Balclutha Swimming Pool from 6pm on Tuesday evenings, and look forward to meeting local dogs and owners.
