There was green all over the greens at Balclutha Golf Club on Friday for St Patrick’s Day, as every available local leprechaun came out swinging.
‘‘It’s just a bit of fun local fundraising,’’ club captain David Ward said.
‘‘It started about five years ago with maybe 60 people, but now were up around 100 players in teams of two.’’
A few Irish rules added speed and ease to the 18 hole competition, and spirits were high along with a brew or two.
‘‘We’re really pleased with another great turnout and stoked with our generous sponsors’ support. Sometime after prizegiving we’ll have a chat about another good local cause we can share the success with,’’ Mr Ward said. REPORT & PHOTO: NICK BROOK
