About 80 riders and horses took part in the Owaka Lions Club’s Catlins Canter at the weekend. The canter has been taking place since 1998, but was cancelled the past couple of years due to Covid-19.

Event co-organiser Warren Burgess said Saturday’s event was an eight-hour ride through the countryside, returning for a party and dance, followed by a shorter ride on Sunday. All the funds raised from this year’s event will go to Owaka’s Little Hoiho early childhood centre.
