Keen Clutha district readers hold up their certificates for the 2023 Clutha District Libraries summer reading challenge, which aimed to encourage and promote reading over the summer period.
The challenge encouraged readers of all ages to complete the ‘‘Bookopoly’’ theme, where reading books would earn prizes.
Prizes included $20 book vouchers, certificates and swimming pool vouchers. There were 439 district-wide participants in the challenge, and a prizegiving was held last Friday for winners of certificates and lucky draw winners of donated audiobooks.
Balclutha-based Clutha District Council library/ service centres manager Debbie Duncan said she was thankful to sponsors Balclutha Rotary Club and Balclutha’s Inner Wheel members for providing the opportunity for people of all ages to participate in the summer challenge.
Children’s and teens’ librarian and organiser Lara Sanderson said the event was a success and she was ready for next year’s event. REPORT AND PHOTO: EVELYN THORN
