The Catlins Area School (TCAS) recently held its Moa in the Catlins exhibition at the Owaka Museum.
Pupils aged 5 to 14 spent a few weeks studying what moa were and creating their own versions of moa and their eggs using items including polystyrene, needle felt, papier-mache, paint and wool.
Museum manager Mike McPhee said the exhibition was in conjunction with a new exhibition at the museum which was opening soon.
TCAS art teacher Maryann Darmody said the pupils were inspired from their display from last year which celebrated the visit of the skeleton of Peter the Tyrannosaurus rex to Auckland Museum.
