Clutha district men’s health drop-in check-up sessions at four local pubs during men’s health month Movember was deemed a ‘‘success’’ by Clutha Health First practice nurses and organisers last Thursday.
Organising member Julie Williams (left) and Clutha Health First chief executive Ray Anton selected lucky winners from a draw of vouchers and prizes donated by local businesses for each male who came in for a check-up.]
Mr Anton said it was ‘‘heartening to see massive community contributions for men in the district’’. Ms Williams and Clutha Health First practice nurse Jennie Wedge said more than 10 nurses went to each drop-in event and it was a good turnout with plenty of blokes, especially farmers, who might not always make it in to the hospital for a check-up.
The organising team hoped to make the event a regular occurrence and thanked all involved.
