On May 31, police attended a vehicle accident on State Highway 8 near Beaumont.
The car hit a cow and although the driver was unharmed, the car was written off.
Police did not provide any information regarding the condition of the cow.

Police confirmed the driver sustained serious injuries and was in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital.
On the weekend of June 3 and 4, police investigated a sudden death in the Blue Mountains in West Otago, which they referred to as an incident involving firearms and a hunting accident.
The death of a female hunter was referred to the coroner and no further information has been released.
