Age Concern Balclutha officially opened at a ceremony attended by dignitaries and South Otago High School’s Kapa Haka Group at 7 John St, last Friday. Overseen by local advocate Gwynneth Butler, Age Concern is a hub for all resources available to the region’s seniors and those who care for them. Clutha nonagenarian Ina Panting cut the ribbon, and Deputy Mayor Ken Payne was one of the speech-makers. ‘‘It’s great to have this critical contributor established in the community for our ageing population — which includes me,’’ he said.
