Visiting siblings (from left) Mac (10), Summer (3), Dom (8) and Xavier Bashall (5) enjoy the new Waihola playground, which was formally opened earlier this month with a winter picnic to celebrate its completion. Following a $400,000 redevelopment, new equipment includes a paddle steamer named Betsy Douglas with a variety of activities, an inclusive carousel and an extension swing. The project was led by the Waihola Looking Forward community group, assisted by $200,000 of funding from the Clutha District Council, a $120,000 grant from the Otago Community Trust and significant voluntary support from the community.
