Grandmother and grandson Joy and Beauden Sheppard (8) teamed up at New World to sell paper and homemade poppies last Friday for Poppy Day.

Poppies were placed at receptions, offices, counters and two stalls in Balclutha, and elsewhere in the Clutha district, to raise money for The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association.

RSA welfare trustee Pauline Soper said $1772 was raised this year between their two stalls at New World and The Warehouse.

Various collection-point buckets were still to be counted.

Ms Soper said she was very pleased with the amount raised so far and looked forward to next year’s fundraiser. REPORT AND PHOTO: EVELYN THORN
