One Balclutha couple has marked 10 years’ hosting an event which touches many lives in the district.
Russell and Judy Houliston are hosting their 10th annual Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the wider district.
The breakfast is held to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation and the money raised goes to fund breast cancer education, research and patient support.
Mrs Houliston said they originally thought they might host a breakfast for two or three years, but they are happy to have reached a milestone of 10 years.
‘‘We continue to host because we absolutely enjoy it.
‘‘All of the local businesses get involved and we’re more than happy to raise money for a cause which we know so many people have been involved with, or know of someone that has,’’ she said.
Mr and Mrs Houliston continue to enjoy the annual event and catching up with the locals.
This year the Balclutha event will be held from 10am Saturday, May 27 instead of the usual Sunday, at the Town & Country Club.
The entry fee for adults will be $20 and for children a gold coin donation.
The breakfast is open to the public and all proceeds go towards the foundation.
The event has a silent auction and a raffle, for which many local businesses are involved with supplying prizes, and is cash only. A speaker will also be present.
People can book for the breakfast at the Town & Country Club in Yarmouth St, Balclutha or by phoning (03) 418-1522.
