Sergeant Chris Parsons, of Balclutha, is urging members of the public to report suspicious activity when they witness it, following investigations into an Owaka burglary revealed local people had seen suspicious activity, including the carrying off of a kayak, and not called police.
A search warrant was executed in Milton last week in relation to poaching.
Sgt Parsons said reporting of strange vehicles cruising or parked in remote areas — particularly Lawrence — would help control trespassing and unlawful hunting.
