More than 200 people stopped in to buy a coffee, a sweet treat or a knick-knack in Clinton last Saturday evening.
The first night market was held at the Clinton Community Centre from 6pm until 9pm.
Thirty stallholders from Dunedin down to Invercargill made the drive to set up and sell their goods inside and outside the venue. Organiser and local Rebecca Bungard said she was very pleased with the turnout.
‘‘I’m very surprised at how many people showed up.
‘‘I’ve helped to organise summer and day markets before, so I thought it may have been a good idea.’’
Money made from raffles and some stalls would be going back into the community.
The positivity received from the event would assist her in hosting more in future. PHOTO & REPORT: EVELYN THORN
