Clinton Junior Rugby is excited to continue to grow and learn this season.

Clinton Rugby Football Club is a rurally focused club and is tight-knit, from the youngsters and the old boys to the sideline legends who have supported them for years.

The Clinton Juniors begin their season on April 22, with their two under-7 Rippa teams and one under-9 team.

They have older children who play in combined teams with other clubs and all of their children are positive and prepared for the upcoming season.

Junior side president Joey Herbert says the juniors are backed with an amazing community and fantastic facilities.

‘‘We’ve got an amazing community bond here and we’re continuing to strengthen the engagement between our junior and senior players.

‘‘Everyone is excited for their upcoming seasons,’’ Herbert said.

‘‘We are hugely appreciative of our club support and couldn’t do it without our local sponsors and community supporters.’’

He was looking forward to coaching along with other junior coaches Mark Wells, Jamie Creft, Glen Campbell and Campbell Wilson, Herbert said.

‘‘I’ve got a couple of sons in one of our under-9 teams and I’m keen to see how the teams continue to develop their skills on the field.’’

‘‘We have plenty of keen girls who play for us, along with kids around four years old who are getting excited to be involved in the sport.’’

The junior team’s subscriptions are paid for by the club, so everyone who wants to can get the opportunity to have a run around on the field for Clinton.

‘‘Trainings are quite classic with the kids, as around 4pm each practice the train goes past so they get distracted to watch it, but overall our kids love getting on the field on a Saturday and giving it a go.

‘‘They’re always keen for the halftime lollies and oranges, and we always have a prizegiving function with saveloys and milos for the kids after each game.

‘‘The main goal is to introduce a life-long enjoyment of rugby.

‘‘These kids will hopefully play for our Clinton premiers in the future, and they look up to our current prems.’’

Junior players are always welcomed into the club and any keen players looking to join can contact Joey Herbert on 027 575-1098 or check out the Clinton Junior Rugby Facebook page.
