South Otago High School (SOHS) netball is well under way for the 2023 season.
SOHS netball co-ordinator Pam Hannah has been getting the girls into action to support them through their seasons.
‘‘Netball this year is going along nicely with us being halfway through the season already!
‘‘SOHS has seven teams this year, with an amazing number of dedicated coaches and volunteers who help us wherever they can,’’ Mrs Hannah said.
The coaches for SOHS teams are:
A —Marina Tourell and Noelene Scott
B —Bronwyn Hutton and Sasha Scott
C —Lisa Ross and Jordan Chalmers

‘‘We are very lucky at SOHS Netball to have the calibre of coaches that we do. All of our coaches go above and beyond to make netball an enjoyable experience, for the players and supporters who keep us going.’’
SOHS has experienced umpires within the club that umpire not only Friday nights, but also on Saturday mornings with junior games — Elri Geldenhuys, Leone Geldenhuys, Poppy Johnstone, Gemma McAtamney, Jess Allan, Maddy McElrea, Jorja Andrews, Ella Holgate, Keira Frisby, Ivi Laban, Olivia Jack and Rosemariah Talione Vosa Pene.
The SOHS netball team is always succeeding further with its passion for the sport and dedication to get better in every aspect each week. This includes games, training, umpiring and supporting their fellow team-mates.
A huge congratulations to Ruby Smith, Emmy Marshall, Abby McKinney and Olivia Ludemann who are in the Steel steps academy for 2023.
The SOHS girls have opportunities including going to tournaments. Their tournaments are:
• Otago Secondary Schools Tournament, Sunday, June 11
• Monday, June 12 at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin. Teams attending this are A, B, Year 10A and Year 9A. This is a highlight on our netball calendar.
• South Island Junior Tournament is in the July holidays, and SOHS is looking at taking a team to Christchurch to compete.
• South Island Secondary Schools Tournament runs from August 27 to August 31 in Invercargill.
The SOHS teams would like to send out a massive thanks to their sponsors and supporters as they really appreciate the backing.
Check out their games on Friday nights and go and support the SOHS girls on their journey through their seasons.
