Exhibition enthusiasm

The Owaka Lions Club 50th jubilee exhibition opened at the Owaka Information Centre’s Community Gallery last Saturday. There was a small but enthusiastic turnout, with district governor Jerry Schuurmans and wife Henriet attending from West Otago. The display included a video presentation featuring the DVD produced by Lions district 202F after winning the supreme community award for the Owaka Lions Club dialysis caravan in 2006 and some home movies of the Catlins Canter which Alan and Helen-May Burgess had converted to digital. Numerous photographs depicted club social events, conventions — of which the Owaka Lions have hosted four — working bees, certificates of appreciation, newspaper cuttings featuring club activities, members’ certificates and pins, an Anzac display and books produced by club members over the years.
