South Otago holds off late challenge from Taieri for win

SOHS First XV v Taieri College First XV

From kick›off it was apparent both sides would have problems keeping the rugby ball in hand.

Taieri College sustained pressure and ill›discipline from South Otago High School and was rewarded with a successful penalty kick.

Taieri kept pushing, scoring an unconverted try through its prop. SOHS finally made passes stick and Jimmy Flannery scored a converted try to make it 8›7 to the visitors going into halftime.

SOHS, with the wind behind it, enjoyed a better second half.

SOHS applied pressure, Josh Dent crashing through the opposition to score a converted try.

The home forward pack applied more pressure and Teimana Rewita scored another converted try for SOHS.

Further consistency from SOHS saw Logan Mosley dot down in the corner.

Taieri was not done and camped in SOHS’ 22 for the rest of the game, scoring an unconverted try for a 26›13 final score
