Clutha Health First’s (CHF) palliative care unit has received an upgrade, following the installation of a new queen-sized sofa-bed and a chair, bought from local suppliers with money from the community.
“We just want to thank the public for their kind and generous donations. It helps make this part of a person’s life as easy and comfortable as possible,” team leader Shona McDonald said.
Mrs McDonald had worked at CHF for the past 16 years, and said the palliative care unit had always been regularly used.
The unit dealt with those who had terminal illnesses.
“This will make a big difference.
“The sofa folds out into a queen-sized bed, so family members can stay with their loved ones in the room.”
She said the money came from donations made by the public.
“The set is locally purchased from Clutha Modern Furniture, who did a great job.”
