There was something for everyone at the 2019 Kaitangata Car Show and Cruise on Saturday.
Cars of all kinds, games and rides for children, musical entertainment, food and drink, and market stalls as far as the eye could see.
This was the event’s eighth year, Kaitangata Car Show and Cruise secretary Louise McLaren said.
“We try to keep it fresh,” she said.
“We really try to cater for everyone, for the family.
“And I think the cruise adds another dimension as well.
“It’s not just a day of show cars.
The cruise this year made its way from Kaitangata to Lawrence for a refreshment break, back through Clydevale and returned to Kaitangata for a prizegiving.
“You get that old Sunday drive type of feel when everyone gets out to do what they love doing the most, which is driving.”
The Bisschop family came from Invercargill for the day with their 1952 Ford Twin Spinner, aptly named “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.
The vehicle was done up in black with neon green highlights to reference the extra-terrestrial themed movie, but Lavina Bisschop said there was another reason for the name.
“It’s also the third time we’ve overhauled it. Get it?”
She said this was the first time they had brought the vehicle to the show, but were long-time attendees and liked “enjoying the atmosphere”.
Brad Bisschop said: “We really like coming along and relaxing, and then going out for the cruise.”
