Road safety smarts start young

Clutha District Council Road Safety Co›ordinator Rachel Harrison reads road safety story My mum is Queen of the Road , written by Jennifer Beck and illustrated by Lisa Allen to the year 3›4 pupils in Room 3 at Balclutha Primary School.

The story, about a mum working as a manual traffic controller on roadworks, is an engaging read and a great teaching resource that asks questions of the students such as; how do you think children and adults can be safe around roadworks, and how is Ari’s mum keeping her roadworks crew safe?

The book packs come in English and Te Reo editions with a teaching resource, and Mrs Harrison and SouthRoads have more book packs to give out to primary and ECE centres around the district.
