“Absolutely awesome” was how Owaka Stacker organiser Terry Bartlett described his walk-up blackboard country music event held late last month, at the Owaka sports grounds.
More than 60 people gathered in deck chairs, on cushions and mats to listen to the variety of country music acts that performed.
“It all started quietly but it soon picked up and we then ran through to 8pm with a jam session,” he said.
Mr Bartlett’s idea was for lesser -known acts from around the province to show up and take the stage in front of a crowd.
“A lot of good people pulled together to make this event work and it was held on such a beautiful day.
