The new owners of the Balclutha Peggydale site are still undecided on what they see happening to the well-known location.
It has been bought by Bryan and Helen Povey, who have indicated they would like to see the cafe part of the site stay open.
“We’re trying to lease the cafe building … I’ve got a couple of interested parties … but we haven’t really had time to breathe,” Mr Povey said.
The shop has closed, and the couple are fielding ideas on what could go in its place.
“If anything does go up there we’re mindful of benefiting the community. There could be a convention centre … Someone suggested a maze, which I think would do quite well.”
