They are flying off the virtual shelves at the Balclutha Library.
Ebooks and eAudio files are in hot demand and Balclutha Library team leader Lorna Ross said she has seen a big upsurge in demand for their online items.
“At present, with all the libraries being closed around the district, people have discovered the wide range of online items we have on offer and they are proving to be very popular,” she said.
“Staff have been taking many calls each day by library users asking for instructions on how to get access to the online service.
“Our staff have also been very busy keeping all the Clutha District Council’s libraries up›to› date and ready for when the lockdown finishes,” Mrs Ross said.
“However we are wondering what has happened to many of the new books we’ve ordered in the past few months as only a few of our regular orders have arrived since the lockdown started.
“We are hoping there might be boxes of books sitting in a corner at the courier’s warehouse and once they have sorted out the current backlog our books might start to appear.”
The library orders replacement and new books months in advance and so far only a small number have arrived.
“They must be in limbo somewhere,” she said.
